Prior to listing a home for sale, I generally recommend a "pre-listing visit", well in advance to address any special needs or concerns that you may have and to recommend any minor repairs or improvements which will assist us in obtaining a higher price for your home. This is also a great opportunity to establish a comfort level and to plan the best strategies for marketing and timelines.
Preparing Your Home to show its absolute best is essential in achieving the highest available market dollar. The items below are a partial list of things a Seller should consider prior to listing their property on the market.
- Pack up any and all clutter that you do not use on a regular daily basis and neatly store it away in marked boxes for your move.
- Repair all minor items that need attention including paint touch ups, leaking taps, bathtub caulking, door locks, etc.
- Give your house a thorough cleaning prior to your listing including interior windows, garage, behind appliances, dusting, etc.
- Keep your home neat and tidy daily and expect showings every day.
There are of course many other items you need to consider, but these should get you started until we have a chance to meet.
